Abstract : Most live e-Learning systems achieve interactivity and collaboration between online users through audio, video and chat. In this paper we present a system which enhances the current e-Learning methods by the use of collaborative 2D animations. It aids in providing live conceptual and laboratory experience to the student. Collaborative 2D animations are particularly useful for explaining concepts and ideas in live online interactive classes for distance education. As a prototype we show how the collaboration of existing 2D objects and animations in a chemistry laboratory can be used in a live class for distance education. © 2010 IEEE.
