Abstract : This study introduces a small, microstrip patch antenna suitable for radar systems operating at 25.72 GHz. The designed antenna displays excellent impedance matching properties, with an return loss (S11) value of -27.32 dB and a 1.33 GHz impedance bandwidth. It generates a focused far-field radiation pattern, attaining a peak gain of 5.64 dBi and positioning its primary lobe at 8.0o, thereby providing illumination primarily in the forward direction. The antenna features a 3 dB angular width of 45.9o. During simulation, it achieved a total efficiency of 79.17% on a Rogers 5880 substrate with dielectric constant 2.2. Being compact makes this antenna ideal for deployment in space constrained systems. Its excellent performance in the millimeter wave band makes it favorable for high resolution short range radar which involves industrial sensing applications for accurate level probing and displacement detection of human presence, and for vehicular applications such as ADAS radar where high performance, compactness and good reliability is important.
