Abstract : Fieldwork essentially prepares students for professional social work practice in different settings with a set of professional values, an analytical attitude, a knowledge base, and other key skills. Hence it is considered to be an essential component in the social work profession. Classroom learning offers theoretical orientation, conceptual clarity, an appropriate foundation of the necessary understanding, and analytical tools. It provides an opportunity to experiment with classroom learning of professional practice and in real-life situations when encountered in the students’ respective field of future practice. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the importance of fieldwork in order to guide students. Moreover, the social work profession is practice-oriented so enhanced field training is the best way to enrich the skills needed for the discipline. Also, it is necessary for students to apprehend the significance of fieldwork in the social work profession. In this chapter, the researcher narrates the experience of field projects that enable the environment of guiding concurrent fieldwork students. This provides an opportunity to understand various social problems in the Indian context, in addition to various social work intervention strategies and case examples carried out by the author and trainees.
