Abstract : With the emerging trends in wireless applications the need of accuracy with respect to localization is very critical. The impact of physical location systems such as Global Positioning System(GPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) have a limitation since the resulting coordinates may sometimes have an error range of 7 to 8 meters which is not sufficient for location critical wireless applications especially in indoor environments. This paper proposes a context aware wireless application which uses sensors such as photo sensors, gravity sensors, compass, and temperature sensors along with GPS to extract the context information for effective localization. We implemented our system on Android cell phones and evaluated it in both moving and stationary conditions. Our results show that our system scheme can deliver accurate logical conclusion about the location. We also evaluate different parameters on the accuracy with respect to different devices.
