Abstract : The integration of smart energy meters into modern power systems has enabled key applications such as realtime automated billing, remote monitoring, unauthorized usage detection, energy trading, and predictive consumption analysis-primarily driven by the Internet of Things (IoT). However, conventional IoT-based smart metering systems often rely on centralized architectures, raising significant concerns about data security and user privacy. Blockchain technology, with its inherent features of decentralization, authenticity, confidentiality, and data integrity, presents a promising solution to these challenges. This paper proposes a blockchain-based smart metering system that enables transparent and secure energy consumption tracking. The proposed approach addresses the limitations of traditional systems and demonstrates enhanced privacy, security, and support for peer-to-peer energy trading through a real-world implementation.
