Abstract : The mining process can cause environmental pollution in all its stages and has serious consequences for the health of people working at such sites as well as people that live in their vicinity. In this paper an IoT based solution for online detection, analysis and monitoring of pollution in those industries is developed in real time. The proposed system integrates sensors for weather monitoring (DHT11), water quality monitoring (pH sensor) and air quality assessment (MQ4 gas and flame sensor). ESP8266 NodeMCU is responsible for processing the sensor data and transferring real-time values to the mobile application through Firebase live data via Wi-Fi. It enables related stakeholders to act accordingly by taking necessary actions so they can get into risk mitigation mode quickly. It is of course different from conventional systems that require some sampling (often during the turnaround time and lead to exponential late responses), this is a preventative system that supports environmental safety and compliance.
