Abstract : "You are here for the rest of your life. Do you understand ? You are not leaving Iran. You are her until you die” .For an American women Betty Mahmoody who married to an Iranian man ,Dr Sayyad Bozorg Mahmoody these lines were not less than abuses. In her book Not Without My Daughter Betty Mahmoody chronicles her time in Iran, a land where women have no rights and Americans are despised. Traveling to Iran under the words that they were visiting for short while, For a women like Betty her nightmare became reality and escape becomes only an impossible dream. During her life in Iran Betty has encountered many strange and difficult situations ranging from being forced to eat grains with insects running in it to suffering brutal domestic abuses from her husband while his family witnessed it. Betty’s life experience is not very far displaced: for the culture of patriarchy that builds against women in Iran proves to be breeding ground for personal stories of violence attack against women and their rights.” Not Without my Daughter” is a true story of one women’s desperate struggle to survive and escape with her daughter from an alien and frightening culture.
