Abstract :
In this paper, we evaluate the performance of wireless optical communication (WOC) in terms of received optical power for both air and water as channel medium. The performance of underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC) in the presence of air bubbles is also evaluated experimentally. It is observed that received optical power decreases as the channel length increases. It is also observed that the degradation in the received optical power is more in water when compared to air as channel medium. Furthermore, the underwater optical wireless system performance degrades in the presence of air bubbles. The channel modeling of the underwater wireless optical link is analyzed mathematically, experimental and mathematical results are compared and it is found that both the results are in good agreement with each other
