Abstract : This paper investigates the influence of nanoclay content on sandwich composites
under flexural and impact loading. Four different combinations of sandwich composite
panels made of fiber glass/nano-modified polyester face sheets and jute core was prepared
by hand lay-up manufacturing technique (HL).The core thickness was 6 mm and the face
sheets were made of one layer of woven fabric glass fibers and nano-modified polyester for
sandwich panels. Composite samples were tested for flexural and impact behavior. The
measurement showed that the flexural and impact properties are greatly increased, over the
range of nanoclay loading. A plausible explanation for high increase of properties has also
been discussed.
