Abstract : The generation of power from renewable energy sources (RES) is increasing day by day because they are eco-friendly, more reliable and have less maintenance cost. A hybrid microgrid system has numerous decentralized loops. Therefore, proper coordination among hybrid microgrid subsystems with required performance is essential. In this paper, a hybrid solar and micro-hydro system model is proposed which includes islanded and grid connected hydro with the solar PV system. The hydropower generation uses the synchronous generator that regulates the voltage using a load controller for standalone operation. The analysis of the whole system is carried out and verified in the Simulink and can be implemented in the Amrita Micro-Hydro system with the Solar DC microgrid at Komalikuddi tribal village in Idukki district, one of the 101 villages adopted by Mata Amritanandamayi Math.
