Abstract : Divinyl benzene crosslinked polystyrene supported β-diketone linked complexes of Mn(II) have been prepared, characterized and their role as catalysts in the oxidation of alcohols by Cr(VI) have been studied. The catalytic activity is influenced by the degree of crosslinking of the polymer matrix, distance between the polymer matrix and metal complex, structural environment of the ligand and acidity of the medium. A possible mechanism has also been suggested.
