Abstract : Over the last few years, metal nanoclusters have become a profound area of interest due to their relatively small size, low toxicity, and novel physicochemical properties manifested by them. Proteins are widely used for encapsulation purpose because of their excellent biocompatibility, Stabilized nature, and flexibility which supports required surface modification. In this chapter, we will be discussing in detail, the role of enzymes and protein derived from an animal as well as plant sources in synthesizing and protecting metal nanoclusters. The chapter will also throw light into different Characterization techniques used for the structural elucidation of metal nanoclusters. The discussion will also be extended to the applications and future prospects in this area.
