Abstract : The criminal mind is never at rest. Individuals with malicious intent are constantly devising new strategies to disrupt peace and tranquility. It is therefore necessary for the Law and Order officials to remain vigilant and develop new strategies to restore peace. Information especially the ones provided by witnesses, victims, captured perpetrators etc., play a vital role in development of such strategies. Thus it is of utmost importance to ensure that the information obtained is accurate. Traditional methods of deception detection like polygraph tests, even though widely used, do not produce reliable results. Recent studies show that the thermal characteristics of certain facial regions such as nose and pre-orbital. Therefore, with this project our aim is to find out which region of interest provides better result in predicting the deceptiveness in humans.
