Abstract : As modern power systems increasingly rely on sophisticated technologies and interconnected networks, the robustness of Load Frequency Control (LFC) becomes paramount to ensure grid stability and reliability. This paper investigates the cybersecurity challenges inherent in LFC within a two-area system framework, emphasizing vulnerabilities stemming from advanced technologies, potential cyber-attacks, and communication delays. The study focuses on deriving and fine-tuning transfer function parameters specifically tailored to a 50 Hz system. The state space equations are also formulated to do analysis and attack at any of the significant location. Through a comprehensive analysis, three primary cyber-attack types, scaling, ramp, and random, are explored to understand their impact on system dynamics. Through simulations, the paper presents detailed insights into the system's performance under diverse attack scenarios, considering the critical need for maintaining stability in LFC amidst evolving cybersecurity threats. The findings underscore the significance of implementing robust security measures and adaptive control strategies to safeguard power systems against potential disruptions, ensuring their resilience in the face of emerging cyber threats. This research contributes to advancing our understanding of cybersecurity implications in power system operations and provides valuable guidance for policymakers, system operators, and cybersecurity professionals in fortifying LFC mechanisms against evolving threats.
