Abstract : Wind turbines located near to the Radar system can restrict the performance of the Radar system to detect its targets. In order to understand their degradation effects and interference on Radar signals, the reflection coefficient is studied for different materials used to fabricate the wind turbine blades. This is followed by an estimation of Radar Cross Section (RCS) in the L and S band of the Electromagnetic Spectrum (EM) considering wind turbine as electrically large objects in the EM wave frequency solver environment viz., the XGtd software tool. Additional results are presented for different blade thicknesses and orientations. From the RCS plot, the best and worst blade orientations are determined from radar signal returns.
