Abstract : Spectroscopic techniques are the classical methods, used throughout many engineering, biological and chemical fields for many years. Now, nanotechnology is developed into its own distinct area, different spectroscopic methods can be used to characterize nanomaterials. In this article, we look into some of the widely used and effective spectroscopic methods for the material characterization. Spectroscopy is one of the crucial techniques, frequently used cooperatively with different microscopic techniques to get the general picture of the nanomaterial. Microscopy gives the pictorial representation while spectroscopy gives the chemical structure and properties of the nanomaterial. This review provides fundamental principles, working, instrumentation, advantages and applications of different spectroscopic techniques like XRD, WDS, XPS, and AES.
