Abstract : Fatigue failures of various types are key concern in increasing the reliability of products. In this study heat treatment of the aluminium alloy substrate was carried out at three different temperatures 420°C, 460°C, and 500°C. The effects of heat treatment on the fatigue life and fatigue strength were studied. The fatigue life of Aluminium alloys specimens was improved significantly compared to those of non-treated specimens. It was revealed that after proposed heat treatment, the initiation of fatigue cracks is likely to be retarded by specimen surface since fatigue cracks have been observed to form first at the surface and subsequently to propagate towards.
