Abstract : The world is now facing a pandemic, which has consumed millions of lives and has causedserious setbacks and deteriorations in the profile of developed countries. It is for the firsttime that the efficiency, quality, standard and operational realism of the existing health care system is tested to such an extreme extent. The identified deficiencies are now believed to berectified by instituting prevention strategies, purchase of medical equipment, lockdowns, and by strenuous efforts to develop a vaccine. The biggest irony is that, the developed, developing and under-developed countries have not yet done anything significant for the protection, treatment and care of their elderly population. Hence, the world around needs a positive translation approach and consider elderly medicine as a key initiative with incorporated care pathways, thereby instituting a counter care mechanism that can safeguard the elderly in current and future outbreaks.
