Abstract : The ionic conductivity (o) of LiCl-NaCl binary system has been studied as function of composition and temperature. The electrical conductivity in the intrinsic region as function of composition has been correlated with the phase-diagram. A maximum enhancement in σ by a factor of~ 4 x 103 with respect to pure NaCl is obtained at 560 C for 70 m/o LiCl where melting point is minimum. The conductivity enhancement in the intrinsic region of different compositions, can be explained in terms of lattice loosening model in accordance with the phase diagram.
