ACARA (Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda) conducted a one day workshop on Medical Statistics for Ayurveda PhD Scholars at Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amritapuri on April 18, 2016.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was represented at VegMed 2016, held at the campus of Freie Universität, Berlin, Germany from the 22nd to 24th of April, 2016. Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director at Amrita School of Ayurvedadelivered a Key Note Lecture on Vegetarian Nutrition in Ayurveda and also chaired a session on Vegetarian Nutrition in Traditional Medicine.
A paper titled, “A Real-Time Detection and Warning of Cardiovascular Disease LAHB for a Wearable Wireless ECG Device”, jointly authored by Anjali Arunan (Master’s student), Rahul Krishnan (Project Associate, Amrita WNA) and Maneesha V. Ramesh ( Director, AmritaWNA) was accepted for poster presentation at the IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI).
Dr. Anura Jayasumana, a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University, USA, visited the Kochi and Amritapuri campuses in early 2016.
Dr. Dietmar Jennewein, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Plastics Engineering, University of Applied Sciences, Darmstadt, Germany visited the Amritapuri and Coimbatore campuses in early 2016.
Dr. Indu M. Menon and Dr. Pooja N., House Surgeons of Amrita School of Ayurveda, participated in the state level competition of “Ayurwiz’3- a National level quiz competition” conducted by Himalaya Herbals and stood first among 7 teams who competed at this level.
Amrita staff member, Sneha Devanand, who works as a Developer trainee at Amrita Center for Cyber Security Systems and Networks as part of IoT and BigData team, performed in the Naadotsav in Bengaluru as a Vainikaa from Kerala.
Dr. Manzoor Koyakutty is one of the researchers at the forefront of the ACNSMM work concerning multifunctional nanomedicines for targeting key oncogenic pathways in drug resistant cancer cells.
Dr. P. Ram Manohar, Research Director of Amrita Centre for Advanced Research in Ayurveda has been invited as a Keynote Speaker to present his views on “Preventive and Therapeutic Implications of Vegetarian Diet in Traditional Indian Medicine” at VegMed 2016.
An expert in the field of fermentation technology and a Professor Emeritus from the M.S. University of Baroda, Dr. Avinash Shah, has spent the week of March 16, 2016, at Amrita School of Biotechnology (ASBT), teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
