Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, celebrated Gokulashtami (Lord Krishna’s Birthday) on August 12, 2017, with great devotional fervor, enthusiasm and fanfare. The highlight of the colorful celebration was a procession in which students, staff and residents of the Amrita campus participate.
The AmritaCREATE Team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is one of eight semifinalists advancing in the $7 million Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE presented by Dollar General Literacy Foundation. The Adult Literacy XPRIZE is a global competition, challenging teams to develop a mobile application for existing smart devices that results in the greatest increase in literacy skills among participating adult learners.
The 2nd year BA and 1st year MA Mass Communication students, Department of Communication, Coimbatore, attended an interactive session on photography on 4th August 2017 hosted by Shri Aditya Arya, a well-known travel and ad photographer with 32 years of experience in the field.

Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore and a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, launched an Android App of the Amritadhwani the annual college magazine and yearbook of Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, on 28th July, 2017.
Amrita student, Mr. Rishideep S. (final year BTech), Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, developed an Android App, ‘Wall on”, which has been adjudged as one among the Top 10 Best Android Apps for July, 2017, by TechworkZ online global community of Android App developers.
Dr. E. A. Gopalakrishnan, Assistant Professor (SG) at Amrita Center for Computational Engineering and Networking (CEN), Coimbatore, published his article, titled “Experimental investigation on preconditioned rate induced tipping in a thermoacoustic system”, in Nature Scientific Reports (IF > 5.5).
Amrita Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE) conducted a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP), from June 12- July 8, 2017, at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.
A cancer labelling fluorescent probe was designed by Dr. Sankarprasad Bhuniya, Research Professor at Amrita Center for Industrial Research & Innovation and Amrita Center for Excellence in Advanced Materials and Green Technologies, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, along with Nithya Velusamy and Kondapa Naidu Bobba, Dr. Nandita Mishra, Assistant Professor, Amrita School of Biotechnology and PhD students Divya Nedungadi and Anupama Binoy.
