Amrita Celebrates Women Day

Amrita Celebrates International women day by empowering women of Rural India by Skill training and raising awareness about Gender Equality

Women’s rights and gender equality are taking center stage in 2020! The theme for International Women’s Day: “Each For Equal” fits in well with AMMACHI Labs’ long history of advancing women’s issues and fostering human rights.

For the last three years, we have partnered with Glorka Brand, an ethical fashion company from LA founded by renowned designer Zhenya Glorka. Together, we have successfully impacted the lives of women in rural areas by creating sustainable avenues of income generation through skill training. Here’s an update of Zhenya Glorka’s month-long trip to North India where she lived with and trained a group of motivated women in sewing designer caftans.

Each of these artisans has a unique and beautiful story to share and are part of the next generation of women who are transforming India. Happy International Women’s Day!
