Abstract : A process is described for the preparation of macro porous copolymer of methacrylic acid cross linked with divinyl benzene and the like in the presence of toluene as porosogenic agent. This copolymer was aminated with aliphatic diamines to have ploy amide/imide type functional groups on its surface, and this aminated copolymer was treated with ferric chloride solution to load ferric ions followed by caustic alkali solution treatment. This resin is made free from adhering or unabsorbed ions and then used for the removal of arsenic from drinking water. (Application No. 319/DEL/2010)
