Amrita School of Medicine successfully organized a One-Day Workshop on Neonatal & Paediatric Respiratory Care at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of respiratory therapists. The workshop focused on critical topics such as neonatal ventilation, paediatric airway management, and the latest advancements in respiratory care for young patients.
The event commenced with a prayer led by Bri. Rehana C. Mukund, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Saumya Johnson, Associate Professor of Respiratory Therapy. The workshop included insightful sessions by distinguished speakers such as Dr. Jayasree C, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Neonatology; Ms. Anjali Kotian, Assistant Professor and Respiratory Therapist from Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences, Mangalore; Dr. Benoy Jagadeesh, Junior Consultant PICU at Amrita Hospital, Kochi; Dr. Sajith Kesavan, Head of Paediatric Pulmonary and Critical Care at Amrita Hospital, Kochi; and Ms. Riya Asokan, Lecturer & Paediatric Respiratory Therapist.
Key sessions included:
A hands-on workshop on High Flow Oxygen Therapy, Aerosol Therapy, and Mechanical Ventilation concluded the event, providing participants with practical skills for paediatric respiratory care.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Jerry Paul, Professor of Anaesthesiology, who also delivered the felicitation address. Ms. Meghalakshmi served as the Organizing Secretary of the workshop, and Girija Vijaykumar offered the vote of thanks, thanking all participants, speakers, and volunteers.
The workshop was attended by 130 respiratory therapists from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and other states, all eager to improve their skills in neonatal and paediatric respiratory care.
