Abstract : Considering the rapid growth of the aviation sector, the shift towards sustainability embarks on a new era of modern logistics where UAVs also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle plays a major role. The UAVs are most commonly used for surveillance, mapping, surveying, rescue operations, entertainment as well as logistical purposes. The Logistical application includes the delivery of goods from one place to another. The utilisation of UAVs for Logistical applications not only reduces the time of commute but also reduces the carbon footprint. The UAV can be made autonomous where the path planning is done by setting the waypoints the UAV should follow to reach the destination, ensuring an optimised travel path. The Autonomous UAV helps in reducing manpower and ensures ultimate-mile delivery. The UAV can maneuver through rough terrain and harsh environments making it suitable for logistical application. The UAV can be tacked with the help of an onboard GPS module that is connected to the flight controller. Ensuring the secure delivery of the package is one of the major issues, which can ensured by the proposed methodology “Enhanced UAV Delivery System with Image-based Authentication”. The proposed methodology ensures that the package of the Autonomous UAV reaches the recipient. The onboard microcomputer processes the input data from the Camera, attached to the UAV, with the help of a specific Face Detection Software, designed to identify the recipient's face by comparing it to the predefined input provided to the microcomputer. The significant match of the recipient's face then triggers the package delivery/drop mechanism that is connected to the onboard microcomputer of the UAV. By employing the stated methodology the efficiency of the Autonomous Delivery of goods can be improved significantly.
