The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore , in association with COMSOL Multiphysics Pvt. Ltd. , conducted a one-day training workshop on September 2, 2025 . The event provided students, researchers, and faculty members with hands-on exposure to simulation-driven problem solving using COMSOL, one of the world’s leading Multiphysics modeling platforms.
The workshop started with an introduction by Dr. R. Padmanaban , who highlighted the importance of simulation tools in modern engineering. The sessions were led by experts from COMSOL — Mr. Venkata Karthik (Technical Account Manager, COMSOL), Mr. Sharjad A. J (Senior Application Engineer, COMSOL), and Mr. T. Jayanandan (Application Engineer, COMSOL) .
The program began with an introductory session on COMSOL’s interface, modules, and workflow, followed by parallel technical streams . The first focused on structural mechanics, fluid flow, and heat transfer , while the second addressed electromagnetics, RF, wave optics, and plasma simulations . Both streams included hands-on demonstrations, enabling participants to set up and analyze real-world Multiphysics problems.
The workshop witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 72 attendees from multiple engineering disciplines , reflecting the growing importance of computational tools in education and research. Participants appreciated the balance of theory and practice, as well as the open discussions on student projects and interdisciplinary applications.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the COMSOL team for their technical expertise. The workshop not only enhanced participants’ simulation skills but also strengthened Amrita’s commitment to fostering innovation and research excellence .
