On September 27th, as the world came together to celebrate Amma—our beloved Chancellor and guiding light—AMMACHI Labs and the Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality (CWEGE) had the privilege of presenting their latest innovations and social impact projects to thousands of visitors during the grand festivities of Amma’s 72nd birthday.
Among the highlights of the exhibition were:
Technology for Social Good
Our researchers showcased pioneering technology-driven initiatives, including the Haksh-e Social Robot and Amrita Elephant Watch. The stall welcomed special guests, including Kerala’s Finance Minister K.N. Balagopalan and Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, who interacted with the team and explored the projects firsthand.
Sustainable Livelihoods
The Seaweed Products stall featured value-added goods produced by women from our seaweed cultivation project in Tamil Nadu. These innovative products demonstrate how coastal women are building resilience and creating new income opportunities through ocean farming.
Women’s Empowerment Project
CWEGE’s tailoring groups proudly displayed their sewing, stitching, and craftwork, along with completed artworks. This exhibition highlighted the creativity, skill development, and sustainable micro-entrepreneurship fostered by Amrita’s women-focused initiatives.
Second Foundation
Visitors also explored the Second Foundation stall, which offered additional insight into the broad range of community-centered projects presented during the event.
The expo was a vibrant celebration of innovation, empowerment, and service, reflecting Amma’s lifelong commitment to compassion and social impact.
