Institutional Overview

The Department of Pharmacology is a core para-clinical department dedicated to imparting comprehensive knowledge of drugs and their rational use in clinical practice. The department plays a pivotal role in bridging basic medical sciences with clinical disciplines by fostering an understanding of drug mechanisms, therapeutic applications, adverse effects, and principles of evidence-based prescribing.

Laboratories and Facilities

The department is equipped with modern facilities including:

  • Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory with computer-assisted learning (CAL) modules
  • Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory for prescription writing and therapeutic exercises
  • Pharmacovigilance Unit for ADR reporting and analysis

Research Laboratory facilitating MD students and faculty research

  • Anti-microbial stewardship
  • Museum with drug samples, charts, and models

Animal experiments are conducted using simulation software in accordance with CPCSEA guidelines.
