With the support of Esri India, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s Centre for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality (CWEGE) launched a new initiative in Rajasthan titled “Women at the Center: Skills Training and Community Capacity Building” on 14 November 2025. The initiative underscores a strong commitment to advancing women-led development through skill-building and community participation.
The project is being implemented across the rural villages of Harsani and Girabh in the Sheo Constituency of Barmer District. It focuses on strengthening women’s vocational skills, leadership capacities, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) through a participatory, community-driven approach, enabling women to play a central role in local decision-making and development processes.
In Harsani, a newly established solar-powered Women’s Empowerment Center will function as a hub for vocational training, life skills education, and digital literacy. To ensure wider outreach and inclusion, the initiative is complemented by mobile training units that will extend skill training and capacity-building programs to women in Girabh.
By placing women at the heart of the initiative, the project aims to catalyze sustainable, women-led community transformation rooted in equity, empathy, and resilience, reinforcing Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s mission to create inclusive social impact through education, technology, and strategic partnerships.
