Bio

Dr. Gokul V is currently serves as Assistant Professor (OC), School of Physical Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi.

Major Outcomes
  • My Ph.D. research has provided me with strong expertise in optical phenomena, instrumentation, and photothermal (PT) techniques. It has resulted in 13 Scopus-indexed journal publications, including 3 in Q1 journals, and 10 presentations at international and national conferences. Furthermore, my Ph.D. thesis was recognized as one of the best at the National Laser Symposium 2025 organized by the Indian Laser Association.
  • My doctoral research has had a strong emphasis on eco-friendly approaches to nanoparticle (NP) synthesis. I employed hydrothermal green synthesis methods using sustainable organic precursors, including rice flour, soya chunks, and mushrooms, as well as inorganic sources such as diesel soot collected from public transport exhausts, to prepare a diverse array of NPs, including ceramic (HfC), nitride (g-C3N4), and ZnO–carbon hybrids. Collectively, my works reflect both the vision of my Ph.D. advisor in steering research towards societal benefit and my own motivation to pursue science focused on real-world applications.
  • Building further, I applied the thermal lens (TL) technique to characterize adulteration in sesame oil, a serious problem in food quality assurance and authenticity. I also examined the application of TL in the quality monitoring of engine oil, vital in carbon emission reduction. I have also participated in investigations with TL for microplastic detection and quantification, thereby addressing a major environmental issue.
