“The disciplines are where we begin, but not where we end.”
Allen F. Repko
Literature serves as a crucial space to rethink narratives, imagine alternative futures, and interrogate historical and contemporary realities. The rapidly evolving and emerging trends in recent times in literature seek diversified critical thinking and adaptability. Thus, a pluralistic approach that includes dialogues from various disciplines becomes necessary. With this concept note as the exposition, the Department of English, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, is hosting a conference on “21st Century Approaches to Interdisciplinary Dialogues in Literary Studies” on 27th and 28th March 2026 at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru Campus.
The conference offers a forum to explore various directions and intersections of critical thinking and adaptability of human knowledge through interdisciplinary dialogues. The vastness of literary studies is explored through intersections from other disciplines like sociology, psychology, artificial intelligence, Indian knowledge systems, medical humanities, digital humanities, media studies, film studies, political science, journalism, law and legal studies and environmental studies. The convergence of literary studies and other disciplines will evolve into diversified approaches that cast a bigger spectrum in interpretations and comprehension.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, is delighted to call for papers for the conference that will build a network of researchers, practitioners, and scholars to support explorations that depart from a singular approach to multi-disciplinary approaches and expand the frontiers of literary studies. We invite well-researched articles to explore how literary studies transcend traditional literary boundaries to collaborate with other disciplines that examine contexts and methodologies across branches of study.
