The Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry is proud to host a prestigious guest lecture at the Amrita School of Dentistry, under the banner TECH FOR TOTS.

This special Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Soni Stephen, President of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry, a globally respected leader in Paediatric Dentistry.

Titled “Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Paediatric Dentistry: Are these our New Best Friends?”, the lecture will explore how emerging technologies and AI are reshaping paediatric dental practice—enhancing diagnosis, treatment planning, patient engagement, and long-term oral health outcomes for children.

This event marks a significant academic milestone for Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, offering students, faculty, and practitioners valuable insights from a global authority at the forefront of innovation in paediatric dentistry.

About the Speaker 

Dr Soni Stephen is a specialist paediatric dentist based in Sydney, Australia. He is the current President of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry and the Immediate Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD).

Dr Stephen was Head of Paediatric Dentistry and Senior Staff Specialist at Sydney Dental Hospital, University of Sydney from 2000-2015. He completed his specialist training in Paediatric Dentistry from the University of Adelaide and the Adelaide Children’s Hospital and worked at Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne for several years prior to moving to Sydney. He is a Fellow by examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) and a Member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (MRACDS) in the field of Paediatric Dentistry. He served on the RACDS Board of Studies in Paediatric Dentistry for several years and is an examiner in the general and specialist streams for the Royal College. He lectures extensively both internationally and domestically.
