Women artisans from the Sivasakthi Tailoring Group in Karunagappally, trained under the AMRITA SANKALP AVSAR Skill Training Programme, have successfully produced eco-friendly conference materials for the national event “Sustaining Innovation: Embedding R&D in State Institutions,” held on 8–9 January 2026.
A total of 150 tote bags and 150 drawstring pouches were meticulously crafted by the women artisans, showcasing both skill excellence and sustainable production practices. The materials were supplied as part of the official workshop kits through the Women’s Empowerment (WE) Project Store, with select items also curated for VVIP gifting.
The conference was hosted by NITI Aayog and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, in association with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen research and innovation ecosystems within state institutions.
The initiative highlights how structured skill training and market linkage can create meaningful livelihood opportunities for women while supporting environmentally responsible procurement for major institutional events.
The team expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, Sindhu Manoj, Sudarshan V. C., and Preetha for their continued support of women-led enterprises and for entrusting the group with this significant opportunity.
Through each institutional partnership, the Women’s Empowerment Project Store continues to bridge skilled women artisans with real market opportunities, advancing inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods.
