Women artisans from the Sivasakthi Tailoring Group in Karunagappally have successfully produced 60 digital-print blue tote bags as part of the AMRITA SANKALP AVSAR Skill Training Programme. The order was completed for the Study Conference 2026 of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church (Ranni–Nilackal Diocese), held at Thekkady Mar Thoma Meadows on January 27–28, 2026.
The initiative highlights how targeted skill development and market linkages can translate into meaningful livelihood opportunities for women. Trained under the AMRITA SANKALP AVSAR programme, the Sivasakthi Tailoring Group continues to demonstrate strong craftsmanship while building sustainable income streams through institutional orders.
Each production order goes beyond supplying conference materials. It contributes to strengthening women-led micro-enterprises, generating steady earnings, and fostering long-term economic empowerment at the community level. Such engagements also reinforce the programme’s mission of connecting grassroots skills with real market demand.
With growing interest from organizations seeking socially responsible procurement, the initiative encourages institutions to choose thoughtfully crafted products that directly support women artisans and local enterprises.
