Abstract : In this study, we investigated the optimization of electrospinning parameters for a novel system comprising of a blend of Chitosan lactate (a chitosan derivative), and polyvinyl alcohol . Various ratios of Chitosan Lactate to Polyvinyl Alcohol were electrospun under optimized conditions to produce continuous nanofibers. The resulting nanofiber membranes were then loaded with the antibacterial drug minocycline to develop a wound dressing material. The membrane containing 10 wt% minocycline loaded Chitosan Lactate/Polyvinyl Alcohol exhibited a significant inhibition zone against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Furthermore, this membrane demonstrated favorable water retention capacity and antibacterial properties, making it an ideal candidate for wound dressing applications.
