D. M. in Critical Care Medicine is a doctoral program offered by the Amrita School of Medicine. This is a super – specialty Post Doctorate course in the field of medicine. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate training in the field of Anaesthesia, General Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Paediatrics are eligible to undertake this super speciality training.
Critical Care is a specialty that caters for extremely sick patients and provides advanced monitoring, therapy and organ support including extracorporeal support across the spectrum of surgical and medical specialities. This is a rigorous 3 year programme that imparts not only the knowledge to practise this profession but also trains the candidate to acquire the necessary skills and attitude to excel in this domain. Research is an integral part of the department ethos and candidates will be empowered with the necessary skills to continue onwards as lifelong learners.
After successful course completion one will be able to work as specialist, teacher and researcher in public and private sector.
