Abstract : In recent years, India has witnessed a significant increase in the intensity, frequency and spatial extent of heat waves primarily driven by anthropogenic climate change and rapid urbanization. The rise in global temperatures, changing land use patterns and the loss of urban green cover have collectively intensified heat wave impacts, resulting in consistently higher Land Surface Temperature (LST), especially during pre - monsoon season. This study analyzes the spatiotemporal dynamics of heat waves in India from 2000 to 2025, with a focus on both physical climate trends and evolving public perception. A multi-pronged methodology is employed, integrating satellite-based thermal mapping, historical temperature records, Google Trends analysis to measure societal awareness and response for future mitigation steps and goes through the urgent demand for integrated urban climate resilience strategies. The study further evaluates the effectiveness of adaptation measures such as Heat Action Plans (HAPs), cool roofing technologies and green infrastructures as necessary adaptation measures. In addition to this study, we are prioritizing the importance of enhancing the community-level preparedness using government-sourced climate data and behavioral indicators from internet search trends. Overall the study provides a scientific foundation for targeted urban climate resilience strategies and highlights the urgent need for public awareness, data-driven governance and integrated adaption planning to mitigate future heatwave risks.
