Abstract : Drilling is one of the fundamental processes necessary in the production of numerous components, and selecting the best drilling parameters is critical for producing high-quality holes. The goal of this study is to synthesize B4C (2 wt%) and SiC (2%, 4%, and 6% wt%) reinforced aluminum alloy (Al7075) hybrid composites by stir casting and to analyse its mechanical and drilling properties for functional applications. Drilling was performed on vertical machining center according to Taguchi's L27 orthogonal array at different drilling feed rate and spindle speed using a drill tool with a diameter of 5 mm and variable point angles manufactured of TiAlN coated carbide. Drilling outputs like, torque and thrust force were recorded by dynamometer, hole roughness is measured using surf-coder and hole circularity error through coordinate measuring machine. Based on the Mechanical Characterization study, the best combination of composite which outperforms is Specimen3 (Al7075 + 6% SiC + 2% B4C) in all the mechanical tests like, Tensile, Compressive, Flexural and Hardness. In machining results, the optimal level of force is 167.61 N, torque of 1.57 Nm, roughness of 0.99 µm and circularity error of 0.0456 mm were obtained and the optimum drilling parameters are lower feed rate (0.05 mm/rev) with higher spindle speed (3000 rpm) and lower point angle (108°).
