Abstract : 2D materials are considered as an effective choice for epoxy toughening and enhancing its mechanical properties. Among the 2D materials, transition metal dichalcogenides, especially MoS2 and WS2, are getting wider attention due to their behavior analogous to graphene. The restacking and agglomeration tendency of TMDs due to weak Vander Waal’s forces limits their application in epoxy toughening. To overcome the agglomeration issues, this study proposes a new approach for TMD exfoliation using Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP); followed by its incorporation into the epoxy matrix. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), is considered as resourceful method that provides an appropriate and sensitive analytic method for analysis of the mechano-thermal properties of different polymers and polymeric samples as a function of either temperature, frequency, or time, from limited quantity of the sample. So, this study focuses on the DMA analysis of the PVP exfoliated TMDs toughened epoxy composites.
