Abstract : The persistent safety challenges faced by motorcyclists, including delayed post-accident aid, cognitive distraction from navigation, and unsafe call handling, demand an integrated technological intervention. Current solutions often address these issues in isolation, failing to provide a comprehensive safety net. This paper introduces the architecture of a smart helmet, an IoT-driven system engineered to create a cohesive and secure riding environment by holistically addressing these critical risks. The proposed system uses an inertial measurement unit for autonomous accident detection, which automatically dispatches the rider’s GPS location to designated contacts. To mitigate navigational distractions, turn-by-turn directions are projected within the rider’s field of view. The helmet also integrates a microphone and speaker module, enabling hands-free call management via a Bluetooth link. By amalgamating these functionalities into a single, wearable device, this work presents a significant step toward proactive motorcyclist safety. The architecture ensures that critical safety features—automated emergency alerts, non-intrusive navigation, and secure communication—operate in synergy, thereby enhancing rider awareness and significantly reducing response time in emergency scenarios.
