The Neurobiology and Reproductive Biology Research Group investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative and reproductive disorders through integrated molecular, cellular, computational and organismal approaches. In neurobiology, our research focuses on oxidative stress, synaptic dysfunction, mitochondrial impairment and neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. We combine bioinformatics, medicinal chemistry, cell culture, 3D disease models and Drosophila melanogaster to identify novel therapeutic targets and evaluate neuroprotective phytochemicals and synthetic compounds. In reproductive biology, we investigate cell adhesion and inflammatory signaling at the maternal–fetal interface to understand pregnancy-associated disorders.

research themes

Bioinformatics-guided drug repurposing and discovery of neuroprotective phytochemicals and synthetic compounds for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases
Synaptic dysfunction and cell adhesion signaling (DLG5–cadherin–catenin axis) in neurodegeneration
Mechanisms of oxidative stress, redox imbalance and mitochondrial dysfunction in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease
Development of cellular, 3D spheroid and Drosophila disease models for therapeutic screening
Oxidative stress as a central mechanism driving neurodegeneration. Graphical summary illustrating the role of oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction and redox signaling pathways in neurodegenerative diseases.
