The International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) is an international association of scholars and professionals working in the interdisciplinary study of science, science communication, and technology policy.

ISSI advances research, education, and good practice in scientometrics through its biennial international conference and official flagship journal, Quantitative Science Studies (QSS).

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Faridabad, NCR Delhi Campus) is a top-ranked, multi-disciplinary research institution in India.

The campus features state-of-the-art computational laboratories, guest house accommodations, and an ideal environment for intensive interactive workshops.

Four Core Pillars of Training

Addressing foundational concepts, research evaluation, ethics, and advanced network mapping.

Foundations

Retrieve, clean, and analyze standard scholarly database records using standardized reproducible workflows.

Evaluation & Policy

Hands-on training for evidence-based Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) policy assessment.

Responsible Use

Ethical metric application drawing from DORA and the Leiden Manifesto principles.

Research Method

Social Network Analysis (SNA) and domain mapping to uncover collaboration structures and field dynamics.

What You Will Achieve

Six core competencies acquired by the end of the 5-day school.

Data Retrieval & Cleaning

Retrieve, clean, and standardize bibliometric data from major databases using reproducible workflows.

STI Policy Evidence

Generate and interpret scientometric evidence for institutional research evaluation and STI policy design.

Responsible Metrics

Apply field-normalized indicators responsibly based on Open Science principles, DORA, and Leiden Manifesto.

Field Structure Mapping

Map field dynamics, intellectual structure, and research gaps into structured conceptual frameworks.

Social Network Analysis

Construct and interpret co-authorship and institutional collaboration networks via SNA techniques.

Capstone Project

Apply learned scientometric methodologies directly to a research question from your own institution.
