Remote Patient Monitoring System

The project aims at design and development of affordable sensor system that could be integrated as an inexpensive patient monitoring systems,  capable of monitoring  multiple vital physiological parameters like BP(Blood Pressure), SpO2(Blood Oxygen) and Blood Glucose and the system is capable of giving proper warning at abnormal values.

The monitored values can be used as the indicators for several diseases like diabetes mellitus, cushing’s syndrome, sleep apnea, and cardio vascular diseases such as transient ischemic attack, stroke, dementia, mild cognitive impairment, aneurysm etc. The low cost patient monitoring system is indented for the hospitals, clinics, primary and community health centres, private practitioners in rural areas, disaster areas and can even be used by the patient as a wearable device.

  • Non invasive device for monitoring blood pressure, blood sugar and SpO2
    • A low cost,  wearable, real time patient monitoring system with medical alert technology
    • non invasively monitors the blood pressure, SpO2 and blood glucose level and sends the measured values to the doctor’s phone.
    • Estimate blood pressure using cuff-less method
    • MEMS sensor design for Blood Pressure Measurement
    • integrate sensor designs for SpO2 and glucose level using NIR Spectroscopy with the developed system.
    • This system helps to provide efficient health care service to patients living in rural villages who do not have access to tertiary healthcare.

The block diagram representation of the proposed system is as shown in Fig.1.

Project Goals

  •  The design and fabrication of a thin film piezo electric sensor integrated with silicon microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) for blood pressure monitoring and a finger tip sensor based on flexible electronics which measures glucose level and SpO2.
  • b. Real time streaming of the medical data to a doctor’s clinic through a mobile application (Android) in the doctor’s smart phone.
