It is a human-centric approach to innovation that uses mind set for the business success. Socio-technical approaches play a vital role in establishing a new culture in any business. Design Thinking ensures human-centric approaches in the products or processes design. Hence, the study focus to evaluate the applications of Design Thinking for designing socio-technic approaches to enhance business performance. The expected out comes would be theories, methodology and guidelines for establishing business excellence

Dr T Sakthi Nagaraj, is Assistant Professor at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore. He has completed Ph.D. and M. Tech. in Industrial Engineering & Management (IEM) domain from the Department of Production Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. He has received AMIE-Mechanical Engineering from The Institution of Engineers (India).
He has also published research articles in International Journals, in proceedings of the leading international conferences and one book chapter, and also the reviewer of reputed journals.
A Member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and the Indian Society of Ergonomics, he is involved in Innovative and ergonomic product/process interventions, Innovative Product Development, Toyota Production System, Sustainable manufacturing, Total Quality Management, Six-Sigma projects, Data Analysis and Design thinking.
He has hands-on experience in handling development projects in the Textile industry in Sri Lanka.
During the tenure in NIT Tiruchirappalli, he was involved in teaching and research activities for seven years. His hands-on experience includes:
a) Managing continuous improvement projects, risk analysis, root-cause analysis, benchmarking & decision making.
b) Implementing innovative projects developed by using DMAIC, TQM tools and techniques, six-sigma techniques and sustainable manufacturing concepts.
c) Involved in reliable data collection & analysis for understanding the system.
d) Involved in work-study and performance rating, capacity planning, line balancing, operation bulletin preparation, layout redesigning and employee grading.
e) Implementation of cellular manufacturing, SPC, 6S, VSM & Proactive ergonomic interventions.
