Dr. Sajith Vezhapparambu, Assistant Professor, Amrita Center for Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications, presented the webinar. The webinar was open to students from all science and engineering streams and is highly recommended for students who wish to pursue higher studies.
About the Webinar
Geographic Information System (GIS) has revolutionized the spatial data analysis across the world. This webinar on Geo-Spatial thinking: An introduction to GIS and its applications will cover how to think spatially in a professional way. First half explains the basic components of geo-spatial data analysis and mapping using GIS. The second part of the talk focuses on the applications of geo-spatial data analysis in earth science and also other disciplines.
About the Speaker
Dr. Sajith Vezhapparambu is currently working as an assistant professor at Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham. He did his masters in meteorology from CUSAT, Kerala, India and completed his PhD from UMKC, kansas city, USA. He also did postdoctoral research studies at CSIR, pretoria, South Africa and NTNU, Trondheim, Norway. His research interest is to study the implications of climate change on disaster management using: GIS and remote sensing applications; land-atmosphere interactions; and regional climate modeling.
