About

The AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled “MATH-ML: Mathematical Foundations and Techniques for Machine Learning and Interdisciplinary Applications” is a six-day offline programme organized by the Department of Science & Humanities (Mathematics), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Campus. Scheduled from 17–22 August 2026, the programme is designed to strengthen the mathematical foundations required for modern machine learning while exploring their applications across diverse interdisciplinary domains.

The FDP aims to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and practical machine learning by providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of essential mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational techniques. Through expert lectures, interactive discussions, and application-oriented sessions, participants will gain valuable insights into how mathematical principles drive intelligent systems and data-driven decision-making.

Program Schedule

Objectives

To provide a strong foundation in Mathematical concepts underlying
Machine Learning, including Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics
Probability, Statistics and Optimization
To bridge the gap between theoretical mathematics and practical
Machine Learning applications in real-world scenarios
To introduce participants to core Machine Learning algorithms and
their mathematical formulations
To explore interdisciplinary applications of Machine Learning in
domains such as healthcare, engineering and Data Science
To develop participants ability to analyze, model and solve
real-world problems using mathematical and computational
techniques
To encourage research, innovation and collaboration in emerging
areas of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Mathematical
Modeling

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of the mathematical foundations of Machine Learning and appreciate their significance in developing intelligent systems
  • Apply concepts from Linear Algebra, Probability, and Optimization to design and analyze Machine Learning models
