Amrita proudly hosted a three day national workshop on “Research Methodology in Fluid Mechanics” from July 14-16, 2016, which was organized jointly by the department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus and FMFP- Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Power Society (FMFP). FMFP is India’s most prestigious fluid mechanics society. This was the third national level workshop that has been conducted by FMFP and this was the first national level workshop conducted by the department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus. The workshop targeted young faculty members and research scholars who desire to join the teaching industry in the future.

With the introduction of new undergraduate and post graduate programs in the areas of Mechanical, Chemical, Civil and Aerospace, it is very important to train the faculty members who teach fluid mechanics and allied subjects. The workshop was focused on research methodology and dealt with several critical research issues including complicated problems that lie in the areas of gas turbines, aerospace, etc. It is with this objective that the workshop was conducted and Amrita was proud to host it for the first time.

The well organized and stimulating three day workshop included sessions which gave the delegates clear insights regarding various aspects of research in this field. The sessions were graced by eminent personalities like Dr. B.V.S.S.S. Prasad, Professor & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Madras; Dr. Atul Sharma, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay; Dr. S. V. Prabhu, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay; Dr. R. I. Sujith, Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Madras; Dr. Prasad Patnaik, Professor, Department. of Applied Mechanics, IITM; Dr. Jyotirmay Banerjee, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SVNIT, Surat and Dr. Vijaykumar Hindasageri, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIT, Suratkal.  Sessions were also presented by distinguished Professors from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Dr. V.
