Dr. Asha P. Soman is an Associate Professor at Amrita International School of Law, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, India. She is also a certified ESG professional and brings over a decade of experience spanning academia, legal practice, and institutional administration. She holds a Ph.D. in Air and Space Law from the National Law School of India University and is a UGC NET qualifier. She secured the University First Rank and Gold Medal in her LL.M. (Commercial Law and Human Rights) from Cochin University of Science and Technology, and completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. She is also a certified ESG Professional.
Dr. Asha is an active member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA), Paris, contributing to Study Group 5.20 on satellite collision avoidance, and has served on the Academic Council on the United Nations (ACUN). She presented the findings of the IAA Study Group at the International Astronautical Congress 2024 held in Italy. Her professional experience includes her role as Assistant Director – Knowledge Management at a leading law firm, alongside her practice as an Advocate. In academia, she has taught a wide range of subjects across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has supervised doctoral, postgraduate, and undergraduate research.
She has served as the Founding Editor of the Law Journal and Review, and contributes as a reviewer and resource person for various research initiatives and academic programmes. Her research portfolio includes major and minor projects funded by government agencies. Dr. Asha has played a significant role in academic leadership, including curriculum design, introduction of new courses, and the establishment of research centres and institutional committees. She actively contributes to statutory academic bodies, research advisory groups, and accreditation processes.
Her publications are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Her areas of expertise include Jurisprudence, Air and Space Law, International Law, Climate Change, Technology Law, Environmental Law, ESG and interdisciplinary research. She actively engages in organising academic events and is committed to advancing practice-oriented legal education that responds to global challenges.
