Bio

Dr. Akshara P. Byju completed her Ph. D. degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from University of Trento, Trento, Italy. She received her B.Tech. degree in computer science and engineering (CSE) from the University of Kerala, Kerala, India, in 2013, and the M. Sc. degree in geo-informatics from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, University of Twente, The Netherlands, and the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Indian Space Research Organization, Dehradun, India, in 2015. She worked as an Image Analyst with the Urban Expansion Observatory (UXO), Mumbai, India, for the New York University (NYU) Stern Urbanization Project, from 2015 to 2016, and as a GIS Consultant at Infrastructure Development Finance Company (IDFC), Mumbai, in 2015. She was a Visiting Researcher with Remote Sensing Image Analysis (RSiM) Group, Technische Universitat Berlin, Berlin, Germany, from 2018 to 2019. Her main research interests include advanced image processing and deep learning with application to remote sensing.
