Faculty Bio

Dr. Harikrishnan U, an Assistant Professor at Level 10, is affiliated with the Department of Social Sciences within the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri, Kollam, Kerala. His primary areas of interest encompass psychiatric social work, psychosocial care and support in disaster management, school social work, adolescent health and mental health, and social work practice with families.

After obtaining his Master of Social Work from the same institution, he pursued a Master of Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work at Gauhati University. Subsequently, he completed a Fellowship in Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management at NIMHANS and a Doctoral Degree in Social Work at Mizoram University.

Prior to joining Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, he gained two years of experience in non- profit organization management. He also served as a mentor, fieldwork and research supervisor for BSW- MSW trainees for a span of three years. He is a life member of the Indian Society of Professional Social Work (LM no: 998) and the Association of Psychiatric Social Work Professionals (LM no: 154).

He has presented papers at ten international conferences and three national conferences. He is a reviewer for Plus One and Plus Global Public Health Journals and has served as a technical committee member in conferences and facilitator in numerous workshops. His academic contributions consist of three Scopus publications, two in the Web of Science, fourteen articles listed in the UGC Care list, twenty-nine articles in peer-reviewed journals, eight book chapters, and one edited book publication.
